Habitat

Thrives in wetland areas, including marshes, ponds, and stream banks. It's found in the Himalayas and the Western Ghats, at an elevation of 100-2300 m.

Plant Description

It is perennial herb or rhizomatous geophyte growing to a height of 30-120 cm.

Stem is an underground rhizome that spreads horizontally. Above-ground shoots emerge from this rhizome.

Leaves are erect, sword-shaped, and flat, resembling iris leaves. They are typically 30-120 cm long with parallel veins and smooth margins.

Flowers are small, greenish-yellow, and densely packed on a cylindrical spadix, about 5-10 cm long. The spadix lacks a spathe.
