Usages

Medicine- Bark of tree is bitter, cooling, soothing, and acts as a tonic. It is antiseptic and useful for treating issues like excess body heat, wounds, ulcers, urinary problems, skin diseases, stomach issues, fever, and burning sensations. Ornamental-used as an ornamental plant in gardens and parks.

Plant Description

Deciduous tree that can grow well over 20 m.

Bark is light grey and exfoliates in patches.

Leaves are broadly ovate or orbicular-cordate, abruptly acuminate, coriaceous, pubescent beneath; petiole 3-12 cm long, stipules conceals the terminal bud.

Flowers are small and inconspicuous individually but bloom in attractive clusters with a circumference of 20–30 mm.Flowers are usually yellow, often tinged with a shade of pink. .

The fruit is a small, hard capsule that is about 6–8 mm long and contains many tiny seeds.
