Usages

Ornamental- used as an ornamental plant in gardens. Medicine-It is used against epilepsy and wounds, also used as an insect repellent. In China it is used to treat a variety of conditions, including common colds, headaches, boils, eczema, bleeding wounds, and burns.

Plant Description

It is a common tropical annual herbaceous weed. It is an erect softly hairy annual plant grows up to a height of 76 cm.

Stem is often red and has long white hairs.

Leaves are oppositely arranged, ovate to lance-like, coarsely rounded, and have toothed margin.

Flowers are numerous, pale blue or whitish flower-heads, often forming dense domed to flat-topped clusters in leaf axils or end of branches.

Fruit is a small, single-seeded structure called an achene. Black, spindle-shaped (narrow at both ends, wider in the middle), surface dry and roughly hairy.
