Stem is erect, smooth, and gray-brown when young. As the plant matures, the bark becomes rougher and develops raised lenticels (bumps).

Leaves are arranged in whorls of 3 or 4 around the stem. They are narrowly elliptic or sublinear (slightly wider towards the tip), with a papery or slightly leathery texture. Leaf size ranges from 6-22 cm long and 1-2.5 cm wide.

Flower are white, clustered in cymes (umbrella-like structures) at the tips of branches. Flowers have 4-6 petals and are small.

Fruit is reddish ovoid-ellipsoidal capsule with a pointed tip. When dry, the fruit becomes slightly angular and wrinkled.
