Usages

Medicine- The leaves are carminative and stimulant. They are used to treat the common cold, cough, wind-damp impediment pain, distending pain in stomach duct and diarrhoea. The bark and roots are used medicinally. Wood - Construction: The timbre is used for making furniture.

Habitat

Thrives in evergreen broad-leaved forests on hilly land, at an elevation of 1500-2500(-3000) m.

Plant Description

It is evergreen tree reaching a height of 5-20 m.

Stem is with bark (grayish-brown), deeply fissured. Young branches are green.

Leaves are shiny, dark green, arranged alternately. Shape varies from elliptic to ovate or lance-shaped, measuring 6-15 cm long and 4-6.5 cm wide.

Flowers are small, yellowish about 0.3 cm wide.

Fruit is black, spherical berries up to 1 cm in diameter.
