Usages

Medicine - Traditionally used in Nepal for medicinal purposes. The juice of the leaves is applied to cuts and wounds.

Thrives in shady and moist conditions. Found in the Himalayas, at an elevation of 1000-3400 m.

Plant Description

It is softly hairy perennial herb growing upright to a height of 30-90 cm.

Stem is erect, branched, covered in fine hairs.

Leaves are ovate with sharply toothed margins, measuring approximately 3-5 cm in length and 2-4 cm in width, attached to the stem by short stalks.

Flowers are small, pink or purple arranged in loose clusters. Each flower is tubular, around 0.8 cm long, with a 0.6 cm long sepal tube covered in bristly hairs. The flower has a two-lipped shape.

Fruit is small, dry containing seeds.
