Usages

Medicine - It is an aromatic plant. Its needles have been used for anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antimicrobial, and wound-healing properties.

It is found growing in mountain slopes at altitudes of 1800-2800 m asl.

Plant Description

Trees can reach up to 45 m in height.

Trunks up to 3.5 m in diameter, the branchlets can be loosely or densely arranged.

The leaves are closely arranged and scalelike, measuring 1-1.8 mm, flat or slightly gibbous with a rounded, sometimes inconspicuous central abaxial gland, and usually have a slightly obtuse apex.

It has separate male and female cones. Male cones are small and yellow-brown, while mature female cones are dark grayish-brown and round, holding numerous seeds.

The seeds are ovate-oblong and flattened.
