Usages

Medicine - In the villages of India juice is used for the treatment of jaundice, its warm paste is used to treat rheumatism and paste of whole plant is used for the treatment of headache. It is also used in the treatment of urination disorders, muscle pain and cough and also used as blood purifier.

Plant Description

It is parasitic vine twining densely over host plants or other support structures. It can create thick tangled masses and reach lengths of several meters.

Stem is thread-like, twining, typically 0.1-0.2 cm thick, yellow, orange, or reddish in color. Develops root-like structures called haustoria that penetrate the host plant to steal water and nutrients.

Leaves are absent - the plant is leafless.

Flowers are small, white, bell-shaped with five overlapping lobes. Borne directly on the stem nodes.

Fruit is elongated, conical capsule containing seeds.
