Usages

Ornamental - It is used primarily as an ornamental plant. Medicine - Juice of fresh leaf is applied to deep wounds to stop bleeding.

Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal


Habitat

Epiphytic on trees or rocks in forests or in thickets, shaded cliffs at altitudes of 900-2800 m asl.

Its long-lasting, fragrant flowers are often used in floral decorations.


Plant Description

Epiphytic perennial plant.

It do not have true stems, but have a structure called a pseudobulb.

It has 6-10 strap-shaped, long leaves (45-90 cm) with pointed tips.

It blooms with fragrant flowers in yellowish-green with reddish-brown stripes. These large flowers (9-10 cm) have three lobes and a long-lasting, sweet fragrance.

Capsule subellipsoid, 60-110 × 30-45 mm.
