Usages

Ornmaental- Cultivated in gardens as ornamental. Medicine- Used for the treatment of hypertension, inflammation, bleeding and pain for centuries.

Habitat

Thrives in forest understories, slopes, stony places, ditch sides, grasslands, valleys, at an elevation of 1600-2500 m.

Plant Description

It is vigorous climbing perennial herb.

Stem is slender, grooved, branched, and leafy, reaching 100-500 cm in length.

Leaves are compound, alternate, with three main divisions, each further divided into smaller leaflets. Leaflets ovate, 0.5-3 cm long, with a hooked tip.

Flowers are yellow, often with a pinkish tinge, nodding in clusters of 6-14. They have a unique heart-shaped appearance.

Fruit is fleshy, berry-like capsule, 1.5-2.5 cm long, containing numerous black seeds.
