Medicine - A paste made from the root of Porana grandiflora is applied to treat dislocated bones.

Thrives in moist, shaded areas of forests, along streams, and in ravines, at an elevation of 1700-2600 m.

It is perennial herb with a climbing or trailing growth habit.
Stem is softly hairy, measuring about 2.8-8.5 cm in length.
Leaves are heart-shaped, sometimes slightly arrow-shaped, measuring 8.7-17.1 cm long and 5.3 -13 cm wide. Leaf surface is smooth to velvety.
Flowers are showy, bell-shaped, 3-4.5 cm in diameter, with mauve or purple petals and a white center. Arranged in drooping clusters.
Fruit is rounded, greenish-tan, about 1.4-1.6 cm in diameter, containing dark brown seeds.
Flowering: June – September,
Fruiting: July – November.
