Food- Mexican Tea is used as a leaf vegetable and herb for its pungent flavor. Medicine- It is claimed ability to prevent flatulence caused by eating beans but also in the treatment of amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, malaria, chorea, hysteria, catarrh, and asthma.

Plant Description

It is an annual or short-lived perennial herb growing up to 120 cm tall.

Stem is slender and erect, with a reddish-brown hue.

Leaves are oblong-lanceshaped and can grow up to 12 cm long.

Flowers are small, produced in a branched panicle at the tip of the stem.

Fruit is small, nut-like achene, which contain a single seed. They are dark brown in color and have a slightly wrinkled surface.
