Its name Euonymus is said to have meant "Lucky" in ancient Greek.


Plant Description

It is a semi-evergreen to deciduous large small tree that typically grows to 4.5-6 m tall.

Stems are woody and upright, with a smooth texture when young. As the plant matures, the bark develops shallow fissures and becomes slightly rough and color can range from light to grayish brown.

Leaves lanceolate to narrrowly oval, slender-pointed, wedge-shaped at the base, finely toothed, dark bright green, glabrous on both sides.

Flowers greenish or yellowish white, three to nine on a cymose inflorescence. Petals four, wrinkled, roundish. Calyx-lobes shallow, reflexed, disk large.

Fruit four-lobed, four-ribbed, palepink, seeds black.
