Food- The fruit has a pleasant, sweet-sour flavour somwhat like gooseberries. Medicine- The immature fruit is used to treat constipation. A paste of the fruit is applied to the forehead to relieve headaches.

Plant Description

Deciduous tree height 15m tall

Bark is dark-grey, young twigs covered with white or pale-brownish short hairs.

Elliptic to oblong, with a rounded base and tapering tip.

Small, inconspicuous, produced inside the fig (syconium).

Spherical to pear-shaped, pink or dull reddish-brown, often developing underground.

Flowering: 600-2000m.
