Usages

Food- The flowers are one of the richest sources of nectar. This can be sucked directly from the flowers, shaken into a bowl or washed out in a small quantity of water. Wood - Construction: The wood is strong, light in weight, durable and used for panelling, joinery, cabinet making. Wood - Fuelwood: A popular plant for firewood and charcoal. Eco-restoration- This tree is one of the most important reforestation trees in Nepal.

Plant Description

Evergreen tree reaching heights of 18-35 meters with a pyramidal to oval shape. Develops a thick trunk and a few heavy horizontal limbs as it matures.

Dark green, bipinnatifid (fern-like) with delicate indentations. Leaves are generally 15-30 cm long with silvery undersides.

Golden-orange, bottlebrush-like blooms, 8-15 cm long, appearing in spring on 2-3 cm stalks.

Black, leathery seed capsules follow the flowers.
