Plant Description

It is upright succulent perennial herb reaching 50-200 cm tall. Spreads aggressively through plantlets produced on leaves.

Stem is single, upright, simple, 0.5-1 cm thick. Stem color can vary from green to brown.

Leaves are mostly opposite or whorled in sets of three, evenly spaced along the stem. Each leaf is narrowly oblong, slightly cylindrical, and grooved on the upper surface, 3-15 cm long and 0.3-0.6 cm wide, with reddish-green to gray-green coloration and reddish-brown spots. Leaf margins are smooth except for 3-9 small teeth at the tip, where tiny plantlets can sprout.

Flowers are hanging, bell-shaped in dense clusters at the top of the stem. Petals have rounded or pointed tips.

Fruit is dry, papery follicle about 1 cm long containing numerous tiny brown seeds. Not a prominent feature.
