Plant Description

It is shrub or small tree typically reaching 2-10 m in height.

Stem is with gray bark with longitudinal splits. Young branches are brown and hairy.  

Leaves are arranged alternately, leathery texture. Shape varies from broadly ovate to elliptic or lanceolate, measuring 6-15 cm long and 3-7.5 cm wide. Upper surface is shiny, while lower surface is densely hairy.

Flowers are small, yellow, fragrant, arranged in axillary umbels. They are unisexual, with male and female flowers on separate plants.

Fruit is black, globose drupe, about 1 cm in diameter, containing a single seed.
