Plant Description

It is herbaceous perennial plant growing 10-60 cm tall occasionally reaching 100 cm.

Stem is erect or semi-sprawling, square-shaped, arising from a creeping rootstock.

Leaves are oppositely arranged, simple, ovate shape, 2-6.5 cm long and 1-2 cm broad, hairy with coarsely serrated margins.

Flowers are pale purple (sometimes white or pink), arranged in clusters on the stem. Each flower is small, measuring 0.3-0.4 cm long.

Fruit is small, dry nutlet contained within the flower calyx.
