Plant Description

It is tall robust herbaceous perennial. Erect growth habit reaching a height of 60-120 cm.

Stem is stout, hairy, and square-shaped. Typically green and branched towards the top.

Leaves are large, ovate-oblong shape with toothed margins. Oppositely arranged on the stem with long stalks. Leaf size varies from 10-18 cm in length.

Flowers are showy, yellow with orange upper lips. Arranged in distant whorls on branched spikes at the end of the stem. Each flower is approximately 2-3 cm long.

Fruit is small, dry, nut-like seeds enclosed within the calyx.
