Plant Description

Annual/perennial herb 30-90 cm tall.

Ovate, membranous leaves, 4-8 x 2-4 cm. Green, slightly hairy, becoming smoother with age. Flat or wedge-shaped base, entire or slightly toothed margins, pointed tip.

White (rarely bluish/purplish) flowers in clusters of 4-10. Short stalks, cup-shaped sepals with fringed hairs, reflexed in fruit. Petals are more than half-divided, ovate-oblong. Flowers appear in leaf axils.

Hiny black. spherical berries, 5-8 mm in diameter.
