Plant Description

It is an annual herbacious crop that can grow up to 80 cm tall.

Stems are erect, branched, and usually grooved. They are typically herbaceous and may be slightly woody at the base.

Leaves are trifoliate (composed of three leaflets), with each leaflet obovate to oblong-lanceolate in shape. The leaves are typically 1-3 cm long and have a slightly toothed margin. They are usually green but can sometimes have a slightly bluish-green hue.

Flowers are small and pea-like, typically yellow or cream-colored. They are arranged in axillary racemes, which are clusters of flowers along the stem.

Fruit is a legume (pod), 5-10 cm long, containing 10-20 small, angular seeds. The pods are initially green and become brown or yellowish-brown when mature.
