Usages

Medicine - It is well-know in traditional medicine. It is supposedly useful in diseases of eye, blood and livers. Also useful in clearing voice and acts as stimulant in advance stage of fever and nervous disorder. The paste of roots mashed in water is applied on forehead to alleviate the pain. Externally, the paste of its roots is applied in wounds for better healing.

Habitat

Thrives in moist, steep, rocky, undisturbed grassy slopes, at an elevation of 1500-3600 m.

Plant Description

It is perennial herb 15-60 cm tall with a hairy or velvet-hairy.

Stem is 3-6 grow from the rhizome, have a hairy or velvet-hairy texture.

Leaves are of two sets. Basal leaves: Heart-shaped or ovate, 2-10 cm long and 1.5-8 cm wide, with toothed or wavy-toothed margins. Stem leaves: Smaller, stalkless, and often lobed or cut, especially the uppermost leaves.

Flowers are snow-white, borne in flat-topped clusters at the stem tips.

Fruit is velvety seed pod, shorter than the upper bracts.
